Local artists to support Snow Patrol Bangor gig
SNOW Patrol are going for the hat trick as they return for a triumphant homecoming gig in Bangor’s Ward Park next year.
The band made the announcement yesterday and said the May 25 event will be a celebration of Northern Irish music. They will be supported by a host of local artists including Foy Vance, Ash, SOAK, Jealous Of The Birds and Brand New Friend.
And the open-air concert will also be a special moment for Snow Patrol as it will coincide with their 25th anniversary. Speaking at yesterday’s press conference at the Oh Yeah centre in Belfast, Gary Lightbody said: “The first two Ward Parks were two of the best nights of our lives – the best days of our lives.
“The second one in particular is probably our favourite gig we have ever done. “Every time I go out in Bangor to the shops, the only question I ever get asked is when is the next Ward Park, now I will be able to tell people – the 25th of May.” Nathan Connolly added: “I think after the second we always wanted to go a third, it was just a matter of time.” Ards and North Down Borough Council chief Stephen Reid said: “We could not be more delighted to bring Snow Patrol back for this concert.
“We look forward to working with all those involved to make this a truly fantastic and memorable concert.” Tickets will go on sale on Friday at 9am.
