War graves at­tacked by ‘IRA’ van­dals

WAR graves have been van­dalised and one sprayed with “IRA” graf­fiti in sick­en­ing at­tacks.

Po­lice are treat­ing the in­ci­dents, at Mill­town and the City Ceme­tery in West Belfast, as hate crimes.

In a Face­book post on its West Belfast page, the PSNI said the sep­a­rate at­tacks hap­pened over two nights ear­lier this week.

It added: “Ceme­ter­ies are rest­ing places for peo­ple from all walks of life and should be treated with rev­er­ence, re­spect and dig­nity.

“There is no jus­ti­fi­ca­tion for this what­so­ever. To who­ever car­ried out these crimes we will be pur­su­ing you.”

It is un­der­stood the grave with IRA daubed on it was in Mill­town.
