Nurse ‘left looking like Elephant Man’ after lip procedure
A NURSE says fillers caused her lips to swell up so much that she ended up looking like “the Elephant Man”.
Billie Roocroft, 23, claimed they ballooned within 30 minutes of her having the injections, and left her with cheeks “like a hamster” the next day.
She said: “My lips swelled that big within half an hour of the beautician leaving, they looked like they were going to pop.
“My top lip was a lot bigger, while my bottom lip was touching my chin.
“I looked like the Elephant Man. My lips were stinging and felt really sore, my neck, jaw and throat were hurting, too.”
Auxiliary nurse Billie paid £120 for 1ml of filler, administered at her home in Horwich, Bolton, by Belissimo Rivington Aesthetics, last January.
She went on: “I messaged [the beautician] pictures and she said she’d never seen anything like that before, suggested I may have been allergic to the numbing cream and advised me to go to hospital.” The mum of one claimed she has had no ill effects from numbing cream before.
Billie went to A&E and was given a steroid injection and painkillers. She said: “The next day I noticed my lips had gone down but my cheeks still looked like a hamster.
“I ended up getting what looked and felt like cold sores and blisters.”
Billie has had lip fillers since, which went to plan.

“Clients are made fully aware of any possible risks or side effects. Each client is made to acknowledge this by signing an informed consent form and a liability waiver. As such, Ms Roocroft was well aware of possible risks and accepted liability prior to treatment.”
