Lad, 16, ‘killed sister’s secret love at home’

Bake Off star Hollywood’s wife on heartbreak and quest to find love

- BY ROSS FRANCIS

A LAD of 16 stabbed his sister’s secret boyfriend to death after he found him hiding inside their home, a court heard.

Jurors were told the youth, who denies murder, attacked student Risaan Udayakumar, 18, last July while the siblings’ parents were abroad.

They had told the pair not to have friends round and had “strict views” about relationships.

Risaan had secretly visited the sister, 19, at the home in Watford, Herts.

The brother, now 17, came back to find Risaan, from Wembley, North London, hiding. He attacked him with a knife, screaming: “Get out of the house!” Risaan died from stab wounds to the chest.

The hearing at St Alban’s crown court continues. co-host on the US show The American Baking Competition. They later reunited before separating again four years after. Appearing to reference her 52-year-old husband’s affair with his co-star, she added: “Paul and I had an ordinary marriage – it lasted for 19 years with a hiccup in the middle and then an abrupt end. But I have our son and I had to be strong for him.

“Now I look ahead and think about what I’ve gained; the main thing is having the freedom to do what I want to do, so it feels like a door opening. I’m feeling very positive at the moment.”

Paul confessed after his affair with his co-star that it was his “biggest mistake” of his life. He added: “It’s my fault. I am very sad about what has happened. I do feel very sad about it and what it brought on the family.”

A few months later, Alex forgave him. Talking about that decision, she said: “I don’t regret taking Paul back that first time. I never regret anything I’ve done.

“I thought things through and it was the right thing to do for me and my son. Hindsight is a wonderful thing, but if you make a decision you stick with it.”

She said that she felt “hurt” by Paul who has since moved on with 23-yearold barmaid Summer Monteys-fullam. He maintains there was no overlap.

“I don’t feel angry with Paul – though of course there’s a certain amount of hurt. Anger is emotive and I’m not carrying that around with me.

“I’m not embarrassed that it didn’t work out. I need to focus on being me, and if you worry about what people think it won’t work.”

She said her focus was now very much on their 16-year-old son but added that she would find it difficult to date again after her marriage breakdown.

“I’m sure at some point I’d like to go out for dinner with someone,” she said. “I don’t know how easy it will be to trust again, but I’d like to think I would.”
