WE’RE COMING FOR YOU , AND YOU KNOW IT

Sane insists City will take it to the wire

ROTHERHAM manager Paul Warne has called on his side to make a name for themselves when they visit Manchester City tomorrow.

Not many people will give them much hope of success, but Warne hopes his side can muster some magic.

Warne (below) said: “I know whatever 11 I put out, they will give it a right go.

“We can win with a little bit of magic and a wry smile.

“We know how phenomenal they are, but our saving grace is in football you don’t have to be the best team to win, it’s an unfair sport.

“You don’t have to be the best team, you don’t have to create the most chances, you don’t have to have the most possession, you just have to score more.” DIOGO JOTA has returned to training and could boost the Wolves attack.

The forward (below) has missed the last four games and will be assessed over the weekend ahead of Monday’s clash with Liverpool at Molineux.

Santo said:

“He has started training. The moment he starts training with the team, he’s always an option for us.”

Romain Saiss is available after limping off in the 2-0 midweek defeat to Crystal Palace with a knee problem. And Nuno added: “Everybody has trained, so everybody is fit for the Liverpool game.” LEROY SANE says Liverpool will be feeling the heat following Manchester City’s epic win over them to reignite the title race.

Sane’s stunning strike secured City a 2-1 win over Liverpool at the Etihad and condemned Jurgen Klopp’s side to their first Premier League defeat this season.

Pep Guardiola’s champions have recovered from their Christmas blip and are now just four points behind leaders Liverpool with 17 games left, with Sane warning Klopp and his men it’s squeaky bum time.

“We’ve put more pressure on Liverpool,” said Sane. “We’re just four points behind them– and they know it, too.

“They have to keep up, but we do to. It’s now a little bit more interesting. It was one of the biggest performances since I came here.

“Liverpool are, at the moment, maybe the best team in Europe or the world, so we’re happy we beat them. The players all felt how intense it was, especially given how important the game was. It was really tense.

“You could see in every tackle, in every pass, everyone was really focused on the game and not to make mistakes. One wrong pass, one mistake, and you could get punished.

“So it was really important to win against Liverpool. It gives you more confidence to know we are closer and it’s not over.

“We’re always going to fight until the end, it doesn’t matter what the scoreline is. We always want to score, to show who we are and how we play.

“We ran a lot and fought a lot, and everyone could see how much we wanted to win the game.”

City are known for their cultured, passing style of play, but against Liverpool they showed a gutsier side to their game, with Sane (right) hailing the fighting spirit and collective desire that ultimately saw them over the line.

“We ran a lot and wanted to fight,” said Sane. “We wanted to win the duels – if you don’t win the duels against Liverpool, they create chances. You could see that, especially in the first half, we won a lot of duels – important ones, too.

“We need to keep playing the way we play, and we did that, but the way we ran and fought was a little bit special.

“You need the confidence to play like this. Every team studies how we play, especially in the Premier League, and we know how difficult it is to play this way.

“We want to show we can do it both ways.”

City midfielder Fernandinho (left), who played a key role in Thursday’s win, echoed Sane by claiming Liverpool will feel the pressure of trying to stay out in front and win their first league title for 29 years.

“Four points, it’s going to be interesting for rest of the season for both teams,” said Fernandinho.

“It’s not easy to stay there at the top, because the pressure is so high.

“You have to win every game, so we’ll see what happens in the end.”
