Top ballerina award – at 81
A BALLERINA has achieved the highest accolade from the Royal Academy of Dance – at 81.
Barbara Peters has received the grade eight award with a pass rate of 73% – with no concessions made for her age.
Her exam saw her perform for 50 minutes, demonstrating her skill on the bar and executing four solo dances to show technique and musicality.
Barbara, from Halifax, West Yorks, said: “I can still do all the powerful dance moves – such as the leaps and pirouettes.
“But I can’t do them like an 18-year-old can.”
