Mother’s Day pub £14k fine

A FORMER pub owner has been fined £14,000 after 186 people were poisoned by a Mother’s Day meal.

Eric Montgomery was found to have “placed unsafe food on the market” after the council discovered meat was cooked overnight then kept warm for hours last March 11.

Customers had cramps and vomiting after visiting the Old Farmhouse, Nailsea, Somerset.

He was also ordered to pay the £4,765 costs and a £170 victim surcharge. The pub now has new owners.
