Standerds can’t drop in Munster
CJ STANDER says Munster will be taking nothing for granted when they face Exeter Chiefs in their final Champions Cup pool game on Saturday.
The Ireland star warned – somewhat cryptically – that there could be a sting in the tail if the Reds don’t adopt the right approach.
He said: “The thing is, my Dad would say, ‘it’s like a Jack Russell in the dark; you never know when it comes,’ so hopefully we can not let that bite us.”
Friday night’s 41-15 win at Gloucester – where Joey Carbery produced another superb display which included two tries in a 26 point haul – has left the Reds in the driving seat.
However, they face an anxious wait to establish the extent of a rib injury suffered by skipper Peter O’mahony.
Stander added: “Leadership-wise, Pete’s a great captain.
“When we lost him, we said, ‘we’ve got to keep them out’. We kept on defending and they scored a try in the end but we kept our discipline.”
On Saturday, Leinster beat Toulouse 29-13 at the RDS to leave them in touching distance of claiming a home quarterfinal.
