AN Army officer cadet was found dead at Sandhurst after being quizzed following a boozy party.

The unnamed 21-year-old was discovered in her room at the prestigious military college in Berkshire on Wednesday.

She had been grilled by senior officers after failing to return to her room following a night out.

The trainee officer was in the senior term of the year-long course and due to be commissioned in April.

The Ministry of Defence said: “We can confirm an incident has occurred… resulting in the death of an officer cadet. Our thoughts are with the family at this difficult time.” A spokesman for Thames Valley Police added: “At around 3pm on Wednesday officers were called to the Royal Military Academy in Sandhurst.

“On attending the scene they found that a woman in her 20s had sadly died. The death is being treated as unexplained but nonsuspicious. A file is being prepared for the coroner.”

All British Army officers are trained at the academy, which also trains officers from other countries. Princes William and Harry both attended.

Other Sandhurst graduates include the Sultan of Brunei, Sir Winston Churchill, James Bond author Ian Fleming, singer James Blunt and Oscar-winning actor David Niven.

There is also a long tradition of foreign royals taking the gruelling, 44-week course.

This includes four Arab monarchs: King Abdullah of Jordan, King Hamad of Bahrain, Sheikh Tamim, Emir of Qatar, and Sultan Qaboos of Oman.
