LOYALTY IS DEAD, LIVE FOR REWARDS

-

Hi, I’m Rhodri Giggs. You’ll know me for such things as… well, OK, there’s only one thing you know me for. That.

But soon there’ll be something else you can associate me with – as, from today, I am the face of Paddy Power’s new ‘loyalty’ campaign.

After what I’ve been through, I know that loyalty is dead, and I live for rewards these days. So I’m going to take a leaf out of my one-time hero’s book, and show zero loyalty here.

Welsh sides Cardiff and Swansea? I’m tipping them both to lose.

Mine and Ryan’s beloved Manchester United? Won’t win a trophy this season.

And Salford City – where I was the first Giggs through the door, by the way – won’t win the National League.

But I’ll tell you who is going to win. Manchester City. Again and again.

Ole has brought a ray of sunshine back to Old Trafford, but Pep will be the manager bringing trophies to Manchester.

City host Chelsea on Sunday afternoon, and are 4/9 to beat Maurizio Sarri’s stuttering outfit.

OK, as first tips go, picking an odds-on tip isn’t bold – but there’s enough baldness in my family without me adding to it.

It doesn’t matter how wronged I’ve been by someone, though, I could never tip a Liverpool win. I’m still a Manchester United supporter, seeing Liverpool win the title would do nothing for me.

Every game feels titanic in the title race at the minute – I just hope that Jurgen Klopp’s metaphorical ship is sinking.

I’m backing the double chance for Bournemouth to avoid defeat tomorrow (7/2), showing that I do believe in second chances.

And, actually, I will be cheering for the Wales manager this weekend. I really, really hope he wins. Warren Gatland, that is.

Rugby was my first love and, if things had gone differently, I might’ve gone into that rather than football.

Wales’s win in France was dramatic and beautiful, and should mean the Italy match tomorrow is a formality.

Paddy Power have Wales at even money in the handicap betting, when you give their hosts a 23-point lead.

If they can deliver such an emphatic win, I think Paddy might have to stay in hiding – as the 11/4 he’s currently got us at to win the Six Nations will be sounding ridiculously generous.

And remember folks, loyalty’s dead, live for rewards.
