US sending B-52 bombers to Britain in Putin missiles alert
AMERICAN B-52 bombers are due in Britain tomorrow amid mounting tensions between Russia and the West.
Up to eight Stratofortress planes are expected at RAF Fairford in Gloucestershire as part of a show of strength against Vladimir Putin.
It comes as Moscow is said to be increasing its missile capabilities against western Europe and the US. The bombers arrive ahead of a NATO exercise in Georgia, a former Soviet state, where allies including the UK and US will take part in war games. It is unclear whether the B-52s will be involved.
Officials said the exercise, which begins on Monday, “is to improve inter-operability between NATO and Georgia, and educate the Georgian armed forces”.
