2 held over ‘fuel fraud’ on forecourt
TWO men have been arrested after a suspected fuel fraud was uncovered.
Nearly 11,000 litres were seized from a forecourt in Co Down.
HMRC chief Steve Tracey said: “Fuel laundering is an unregulated and dangerous activity.
“Illicit fuel is sold at reduced prices and motorists may think they are getting a good deal because it is cheaper.
“I would caution them to think carefully as the real cost is far from a bargain.
“I would urge anyone with information about this dangerous activity to report it to HMRC online.”
A 43-year-old man was charged pending further enquiries and a 29-yearold was released on bail.
