Ex-partner admits harassment

- BY DONAL MCMAHON

A MAN threatened to bath his partner’s new boyfriend in acid, a court heard yesterday.

Cillin Fee, 32, is charged with harassment and improper use of communication devices causing anxiety to another on January 6.

A court in Newry was told the injured party called police to report harassment from her ex-partner including 44 texts and 22 missed calls from an unknown number.

It was said when she asked who was calling a voice said “Cillin”.

The victim believed it was her former boyfriend and blocked his number. He was arrested at his home in Clanrye Park in Newry, Co Down, the next day. When officers called a mystery number on the victim’s phone, Fee’s phone rang.

During police interview Fee admitted the charges and he understood it was harassment.

He said he had been “stupid and had reacted badly on his father’s anniversary with a combination of alcohol and poor mental health”.

Judge Steven Keown freed Fee on £500 bail but ordered him not to have contact with the victim and stay out of two areas in Newry.

He said: “If you breach your bail again you will be back in jail until this matter is dealt with.”

The case was adjourned until sentencing on April 10.
