ENVOI ALLEN defended his unbeaten record and took a big step towards living up to his price tag.

Jamie Codd was overcome with emotion after steering the Gordon Elliott-trained £400,000 point-to-point purchase to a three-quarter-length margin over Blue Sari.

“It’s brilliant to have mum and dad here,” said Codd. “We’ve had a tough year – I lost my brother last year. William was a big supporter of mine. He’s up there looking down on us today.”

“I think that will be Envoi Allen’s final run of the season,” said Elliott. “He will go novice hurdling next year.”
