Twomey & Lee set to double up

- BY PETER O’HEHIR

FOXTROT LIV should prove the class act on this evening’s flat card in Killarney.

From the in-form yard of Paddy Twomey, this 102-rated daughter of Foxwedge drops in class and faces just four rivals in the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Median Auction Fillies Race.

The selection ran a solid race at the Curragh, giving the impression that she would improve from the run, finishing less than two lengths fifth behind Ballydoyle filly Happen.

She raced five times as a juvenile last year, winning a Curragh maiden by six lengths in August, and ended her two-year-old campaign by finishing second behind recent Qipco 1,000 Guineas heroine Hermosa.

Such form makes Billy Lee’s mount a stand-out tonight, when Joseph O’brien’s Cnoc An Oir should prove the chief threat.

A very promising third to Brogue on his debut in Cork on Saturday, Strongbowe makes a quick reappearance for Twomey and Lee in the opening Irish Stallion Farms Maiden and gets the vote to outpoint the Weld runner Hasankey, which shaped with promise when fifth to Old Glory at Naas on his only start at two.

In the concluding Betvictor Race, Edward O’grady’s French import Rasiym, a solid second to Hasanabad on his Irish debut in Tipperary, should prove very tough to beat.

Tramore stages a rescheduled jumps meeting, with the racecourse debut of Quevega’s first foal

Princess Vega, in the opening maiden hurdle, likely to prove the main centre of attention.

Generalisation, locally trained by Henry de Bromhead sets the standard in the Lengthen The Odds With Betvictor Maiden Hurdle while Bellgrove, a course winner over fences, might revert successfully to the minor obstacles in the Betvictor Handicap Hurdle.
