A ‘low point for O’brien

- BY MICHAEL SCULLY

CARLOW boss Turlough O’brien is said to be “very disappointed” with the 20-week ban that will prevent him from being on the sideline for the Leinster opener against Meath on Saturday week.

O’brien was banned for ‘threatening conduct towards a referee’ at end of their Division 3 defeat to Down at the end of March.

Coach Steven Poacher and star player Brendan Murphy were slapped with 12-week bans.

“Of course he’s very disappointed with the whole thing,” said Carlow selector Tommy Wogan of O’brien.

“They’ve put phenomenal work into it and based on poor decisions our season drifted away.. maybe costing us staying in the division.”
