‘Crimelord’ faces jail for stun gun rap

- BY MARTIN FRICKER

A MAN believed to be one of Europe’s most powerful gangsters faces five years’ jail for having a stungun disguised as a torch.

National Crime Agency officers following Thomas “Bomber” Kavanagh swooped on him after he flew home from Mexico with his family in January.

They raided his fortified mansion in Tamworth, Staffs, and found the 10,000-volt gun among an arsenal of legal weapons.

He denied the pink gun was concealed as a torch.

He was found guilty of possessing a disguised firearm yesterday at Stokeon-trent crown court.

He faces a minimum of five years when he is sentenced in September.

Kavanagh is said to be a kingpin in the £1billion Irish Kinahan crime cartel.
