Doc survives knife attack
A HEART surgeon stabbed by a patient only survived because of a rare condition meaning his liver is on the wrong side of his body.
The doctor, 64, was attacked with a 10-inch blade as he arrived for work on Wednesday.
After the stabbing, the alleged knifeman – named as 33-year-old Paul J – calmly sat and waited for police to arrive at Kaiserfranz-josef Hospital in Vienna, Austria.
Officers said it was “a planned attack”.
