We gave a TV dog a home

Tails have happy endings

- BY MATT ROPER BOPPER PHIL ALBUS

THESE rescue pooches won over viewers on This Morning as part of the ITV show’s mission to rehome 52 dogs in a year.

Today is the turn of the last dog, beagle Oakley.

Hosts Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby said:

“Such gorgeous dogs and so deserving.” Mother and son bulldogs Holly and Phil met their namesakes on

This Morning last month.

Lorraine and Anton Wynne, of Ellesmere Port, Cheshire, were keen to adopt them both but the Edward

Foundation bulldog charity pushed for separate homes.

Anton, 40, said: “Phil arrived on Saturday and has settled in amazingly. He seems really happy and our two kids love him. I wouldn’t have chosen Phil as a name. It is a bit embarrassing having to shout out ‘Phil’ in the park, but we won’t change it as he was named after

Phillip Schofield.”

?? ?? LEADING THE WAY Phil & Holly Bopper the Whopper was the UK’S fattest dog when he waddled into a rescue centre weighing eight stone.
The border collie, who was rescued by the RSPCA when his owners became too ill to look after him, was twice the size he should have been.
The 12-year-old pooch was put on a strict diet and exercise regime and managed to shed three-and-a-half stone in three months.
After he appeared on This Morning in January, Mike and Jan, who already have two rescued labradors, took him in.
Mike, 70, from Plymouth, said: “Bopper looked more like a pig than a dog when he arrived, he was that fat.
“Bopper’s settled in really well and he’s continued to lose weight. He’s an all-round lovely character.” Pug Albus had a deformed leg but for Bake Off’s Candice Brown, that made him even more adorable.
The winner of the seventh series of the hit cookery show fell in love with the cute canine after seeing Albus, from Many Tears Animal Rescue in Wales, on TV in October.
After collecting the 12-week-old pup, she shared a cute photo of him with her Twitter fans. Candice,
34, has since had Albus’ deformed leg fixed but added: “It’s still 3cm shorter than the other, so he’s a bit wonky.” Candice, who already had a pug and a Pomeranian, said of Albus: “He’s the naughtiest dog. “I bought a book on how to train your dog but when I got home, Albus had ripped it to pieces.”
