Spraying ‘kills 50,000 bees’

A BEEKEEPER lost 50,000 insects after contractors sprayed herbicide on plants on a nearby roundabout.

Bob Fulton, 87, said: “They sprayed it on a nice day when all the bees were out collecting pollen.

“I think it’s got into the bees and killed them all.”

A subcontractor for Eric Wright Group carried out the works in Darwen, Lancs.

A spokesman for the firm said the local borough council had inspected and was “satisfied that correct procedures were followed”.
