Bull’s show rampage sparked by brolly shock

-

AN INJURED farmer who was trampled by his prize-winning bull said it was spooked by the opening of an umbrella.

Willy Barron, 61, said he has forgiven the one-tonne Limousin bull, called Barrens Oslo, despite being dragged along the ground and knocked unconscious in front of horrified spectators at the Great Yorkshire Show in Harrogate.

Mr Barron, from Burnhope, Co Durham, needed four stitches behind his ear but insisted he had “no hard feelings”. He said yesterday: “Apparently an umbrella opened in front of us as we were walking together, which startled the bull... It’s just one of those things.”

It happened on Tuesday just after the bull was crowned champion in its class.
