‘ANDY CAN CHALLENGE TOP 5 AGAIN’

-

JONAS BJORKMAN believes Andy Murray will challenge the world’s top five when he makes his return to the singles court.

The Scot, 32, (above) has so far refused to put a date on a possible comeback to singles competition.

Murray won the men’s doubles at Queen’s with Feliciano Lopez, and made the second round at Wimbledon with Pierre-hugues Herbert, and in the mixed doubles reached the third round with Serena Williams.

And Swede Bjorkman, the former world No.4 who coached Murray in 2015, said: “Andy can get back to the top-10 level. There is no doubt. With the calibre of player he is, if he is healthy, then he is going to be back to challenge the top five.

“Once a champion, you are always a champion. He has had a problem with his hip for a long time and that has been throwing him off a bit – but he can come back to that level and maybe play even better.”
