Reds and Toon Long way apart

- FROM DAVID MCDONNELL in Perth

MANCHESTER UNITED have been told to pay £50million for Newcastle youngster Sean Longstaff.

And United are ready to walk away from a deal for the midfielder, 21, believing the Toon have ramped up their price because of the Reds’ spending power.

Matt Judge, head of corporate development at Old Trafford, who negotiates transfers, is understood to have spoken to Magpies MD Lee Charnley about Longstaff.

And United feel the player, who has made just nine Premier League appearances for Newcastle, is only worth £20m.

?? ?? DERBY are hoping to snap up Everton youngster Kieran Dowell on loan.
The playmaker, 21, helped Sheffield United win promotion to the Premier League last term, following a previous loan at Nottingham Forest.
Huddersfield had been keen on Dowell, but he is set to become Rams boss Phillip Cocu’s first signing.
