Poldark deeds... George picks his top 10 moments
NO ONE has put the dark into Poldark quite like villain George Warleggan. For four series of the hit BBC1 drama he’s conspired and connived against our hero Ross Poldark.
And he’s at it again from tomorrow when the fifth and final swashbuckling series hits our TV screens.
While this will undoubtedly lead to wailing and gnashing of teeth from the millions of fans of scything, there are still eight episodes left when star Aidan Turner could well get his chest out again. They
promise to be action-packed, with George and Ross once again back in Parliament, this time involved in the new slavery debate, a fire at Nampara and the cast still griefstricken after the shocking death of Elizabeth.
Jack Farthing, who plays George, says: “We pick up soon after series four ended.
“George is reeling from the loss of Elizabeth. You see a more human side of him but he is still up to his old, dastardly ways. And now, of course, George has got ongoing parenting problems!” New characters this series include trouble-making Tess Tregidden, played by Sofia Oxenham; Vincent Regan as Ross’ old army buddy Colonel Ned Despard, and The Bodyguard’s Kerri Mclean as his wife Kitty.
So, to get everyone in the mood to revisit Georgian Cornwall, Jack talks us through his top 10 Poldark moments so far... Poldark: BBC1, Sunday at 9pm. The brilliant Gabriella, who plays Caroline, always has the most fashionable, extravagant costumes. Although I was a bit of a dandy myself – and managed to go home with one of my suits from the show. It’s the beautifully fitted, black tail coat with britches that I’ve spent the past two series wearing and for some unknown reason I asked head of costume if I could have it. Actors are very good at stealing things! It’s now hanging in my cupboard at home. I don’t really know what I’ll do with it but I can always wear it to a Poldark-themed party.
