Paul ready to party with Disco

- BY RYAN MCELLIGOTT

THE returning Discorama is the star name in action at Wexford this afternoon where he is taken to make a successful comeback in the Listed MW Hickey Memorial Chase. Only four line up for the biggest race of the year at Wexford but this looks like an interesting contest. Gordon Elliott supplies two runners headed by the former Cheltenham winner Champagne Classic. who recently got off the mark over fences at Fairyhouse. In addition Henry de Bromhead relies on the intriguing English import Kupatana, who looked a progressive sort over fences last season. However, preference is for Paul Nolan’s charge who has won first time out for the last two seasons. This gelding is a high class sort at his best as he showed when taking second in the National Hunt Chase at Cheltenham and when chasing home Delta Work in a Punchestown Grade 1. Earlier the card should begin with a victory for Front View in the fouryear-old maiden hurdle. This gelding ended last season with a highly impressive wide margin success in a competitive bumper at the Punchestown Festival. Also worth a mention from Wexford is Eclair de Beaufeu. He started off over fences with a pleasing second at Punchestown earlier this month and that run can see him land the beginners chase. The year at Galway draws to a close with an all flat card and Mazara could land the opener for Dermot Weld. This filly began her career with a pleasing third to Fancy Blue at Naas last month and that form looks strong with the winner having gone on to land a Listed race next time out. Njord appeals as another likely winner. He has joined Jessica Harrington from Sheila Lavery in the last week and is a consistent type who likes slow ground.
