LUK HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH IT!

Jutkiewicz: Blues can carry on their climb up the table

-

after Luton’s Harry Cornick cancelled Kristian Pedersen’s opener.

He said afterwards: “My legs seemed to fall off. I just couldn’t quite stretch and get a toe on it and sometimes it can feel as if it’s all going against you.

“That’s when it’s important to have a good mentality, to stick with it and I was pleased I kept getting in there.”

Jutkiewicz’s persistence was rewarded when he nodded home the winner eight minutes from time, although Luton manager Graeme Jones was convinced the scorer had wrestled Matty Pearson out of the way to get there.

The goal stood, however, giving Blues their third win out of four – all of which have been earned at St. Andrew’s.

The sequence, marked by an evolving, more fluid passing game under boss Pep Clotet, puts them just outside the playoff places.

Jutkiewicz, who appears to be adjusting to life without departed strike partner Che Adams, added: “It’s going to be a long, old season, but we are linking up better and creating more chances.

“There’s plenty to work on though – we’ve been very good at home, but we have to start picking up more points away.”

Aside from the winning goal, Jones found another conspiracy theory – that the Football League had undermined Luton by forcing them to make two away trips in four days.

Only Charlton had been given the same schedule and Jones said: “We’re at a disadvantage and it isn’t right.

“All we’re asking for is a level playing field with every other team in this league and we haven’t had that.”
