BA pilots take pay deal after strike action
BRITISH Airways’ pilots have accepted a pay offer of 11.5% over the next three years, their union announced last night.
Members of the British Airline Pilots’ Association voted by nearly nine to one to accept the deal.
It ends a dispute over pay which led to the first walkout by pilots in the history of BA.
The industrial action saw 1,700 flights due to carry nearly 200,000 passengers grounded over two days in September.
Union general secretary Brian Strutton said that during the strike its members had taken “big pay cuts to help the firm through hard times”.
Neither Balpa nor BA would confirm the full terms of the agreement.

The I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! champion said she had heard recent rumours about their relationship before and insisted her husband “knows he’s done a lot wrong”. And she added it is “not like he’s got away lightly at all”.
Her campmate Myles Stephenson claimed TOWIE star Dan, 28, cheated on her with his ex, Love Islander Gabby Allen. Gabby and Dan have denied the claim.
And while mum-of-two Jacqueline, 27, was on the show, model Chloe Ayling said Dan had a threesome with her and TV star Natalie Nunn. Dan denied the claims and Nunn refused to comment.
In her first interview since leaving the jungle earlier this month, Jacqueline said on the Lorraine show: “We’ve been going through it [the cheating claims] for about two years. It got brought up again because of Myles but at the same time I was glad it made me think about it.
“I was in there for three-and-a-half weeks. I had no phone, no contact with anyone.
“It just helped me a lot to be in there.
“I want to hit a restart button. It has been two years of me constantly giving him hell.”
It came as Dan posted a gushing apology to his wife on social media.
He wrote: “So after weeks, months, years of constant articles and rumours, some true, some very untrue. I want to publicly say,
I know I have made mistakes, we all do as humans, but I’ve made some that have almost cost me my family. I have seriously learnt from these. So I want to publicly apologise to my beautiful wife and family for the mistakes I’ve made.”
The couple married in July 2017 and have daughters Ella, four, and Mia, 17 months.
The former Eastenders actress also revealed she lost two stone in the jungle.
She said: “I was hoping for more. We ate really well, there was so much food.” Meanwhile, 304 complaints about alleged bullying and animal welfare on I’m A Celebrity have been rejected by watchdog Ofcom.
