Gardai are not releasing further details of the gruesome murder for operational reasons.
Officers had to use his fingerprints to identify him as his injuries were so severe. His torso was naked and partially concealed under a bush.
The arms and head were later recovered at another part of the property.
Frankie was originally from Churchfield on the northside of Cork city.
Gardai have urged witnesses or persons with information to come forward. On Sunday, Supt Michael
Comyns said the deceased suffered “severe injuries”.
He added: “A full [murder] investigation is up and running.
“We have local patrols out in the area. We have a lot of uniformed gardai carrying out house-to-house inquiries and looking at the CCTV. “This is normally a very quiet area. There is a lot of traffic, a lot of pedestrian traffic but it is a quiet area which doesn’t get a huge amount of Garda activity.
“A lot of people in this area do walk into the city centre. It is a derelict house. There shouldn’t be any activity in and around the house. We are appealing for any persons who may have passed on Boreenmanna Road over the last number of days, going back to Christmas Day, if they had seen any activity around this derelict house, to please contact us.”
Gardai want to speak to motorists, drivers with dashcams, pedestrians and locals.
An incident room has been set up at Anglesea Street Garda station.

Green Party councillor Dan Boyle expressed the shock and revulsion of the local community.
He said: “Ours is a peaceful city. We should be shamed that the dignity of a person has been stripped to such a level.”
