ROSE GLAD TO ESCAPE SPURS ‘NEGATIVITY’

- BY SIMON BIRD

DANNY Rose says he is taking steps to rid himself of “frustration and negativity” after his last three months at Tottenham.

The Newcastle left-back has revealed how he is determined to have a fresh start and “be part of something special” on Tyneside after falling out of favour under Jose Mourinho.

He has thanked Toon boss Steve Bruce for the way he’s “taken time to have a conversation” with him since he moved to St James’ Park on loan.

Rose was sidelined at Spurs, despite playing for England as recently as last October, and made his first start for Toon in the 4-0 loss at Arsenal last week.

He said: “The last three months has been a situation that I haven’t had since I was 18 or 19 under Harry Redknapp (while at Spurs).

“It brought back a lot of frustration and negativity that I don’t want to project or have inside of me.

“Coming here and seeing how the staff treat you is brilliant. The players as well have been great, and it’s a feeling that I’ve missed.

“I’m going to make the most of it for the next three months and, hopefully, we’ll have a great end to the season.

“Off the pitch, Steve has been great with me if I need anything. He told me exactly what he expects from me when I joined.

“Even him taking the time just to have that conversation with me was brilliant and it’s something that I’ve missed.

“I’m willing to fight for him over the next few months and I can’t wait to get going.”

Rose is optimistic about Toon’s end-ofseason run, which starts at Crystal Palace tomorrow.

He added: “I come from a club used to winning. That’s always been our attitude and I hope I can install that here. I haven’t come to lose games, I’ve come to be part of something special.”
