AYMERIC LAPORTE says playing against Real Madrid in the Bernabeu is all the motivation Manchester City need to progress in the Champions League.

City have been kicked out of European competition for two years by UEFA for breaking Financial Fair Play regulations, pending an appeal. That means the pressure is on Pep Guardiola’s side to go all the way in the tournament this season, ahead of next week’s last-16, first leg tie in Spain.

But Laporte, who has just returned from a five-month injury lay-off, knows City’s players cannot allow the ban

ELEVEN SPORTS have never gone away from the international broadcasting market.

And this week they signed a five-year, £100million contract to broadcast the rights to the Belgian Pro League.

Despite their unhappy experience in England with Serie A and La Liga, Eleven Sports have got big deals in

LYON teenager Reo Griffiths, who quit Tottenham to move to France, is earning plaudits for setting up a “Pass It On” campaign in conjunction with adidas.

Griffiths, 19, was prolific in the Spurs youth set-up and is being tipped for big things at Lyon, which is why he has got involved in a campaign to encourage players to pass on their knowledge to the stars of tomorrow.

Few were better at doing that than David Beckham (above) and it is good to see someone as young as Griffiths taking time with kids.

Taiwan, Belgium, Portugal and Poland while their offices are in London and the chairman is Marc Watson, who oversaw the launch of BT Sport.

The Belgian League deal features some big names such as Vincent Kompany and, while it is just for domestic rights at the moment, Eleven Sports are still exploring options for the UK... so watch this space.

?? ?? ONE quirk has gone largely unnoticed from Borussia Dortmund’s 2-1 win over Paris Saint-germain on Tuesday. Dortmund’s front three in the closing stages ALL originally hail from England. Jadon Sancho was born in London, Erling Haaland (left) – son of Elland Road star Alf-inge – was born in Leeds and Gio Reyna – whose dad is ex-sunderland midfielder Claudio – was born on Wearside.
WOMEN’S football in England could get another huge boost to its popularity.
UEFA will decide at their Exco meeting in Amsterdam the venue for the 2022 women’s Champions League final, with Manchester having launched a bid to stage the match.

?? ?? SCOTT PARKER insists his Fulham players have forgotten all about their Barnsley horror show.
The third-placed Cottagers were humiliated 3-0 at home by the struggling Tykes.
But Parker (above) is adamant that has been eradicated from their minds after telling his men to look at the league table. Ahead of tonight’s trip to Derby, he said: “We’ve come back after last week with a real intent to move forward. I’ve told the players the league table says we’re doing OK.
“It will be tough at Derby, but we like playing on Fridays under the lights on Sky.”
