20m watch Fortnite’s live event
OVER 20 million people watched Fortnite’s latest live event marking its new-season launch, said developer Epic Games.
Some 12 million players watched from inside the Battle Royale game on Monday night while another eight million followed it on Youtube and Twitch video platforms.
Players saw several key elements of the game map transformed. Previous events hosted by Fortnite have included a rocket launch, and a live gig by rapper Travis Scott.
The next season of Fortnite – Chapter 2, Season 3 – launches today, Epic said.
The 100-person, last-player-standing Battle Royale is one of the most popular games, with hundreds of millions of players.
