This week campaigner and food writer Heather Mills talks to us about alternative shopping

-

Pre Covid 19, I was never an online shopper. I always liked to see and feel the fruit and veg I was going to cons consume. However, walking round the supe supermarket during this pandemic is not t the enjoyable time it used to be, espe especially the endless queueing.

So you can imagine my joy when I disco discovered a mini vegan supermarket onlin online at www.alternativestores.com that would deliver everything from envir environmental eco-cleaning products to m my favourite Vbites mega burgers.

T This one-stop shop for busy people me means you have no excuse to not try vi virtually every single alternative m meat, fish and dairy-free product. If you have a friend whose kids are addicted to Nutella on pancakes, they even have a vegan- style simil similar product.

On One of my pals has a kid with many allerg allergies and it’s always heartbreaking at ch children’s parties to see them have to bring their own packed lunch.

Wh When they come to my house all the kids a are oblivious to the fact they are eatin eating mini vegan sausages and Vbites glute gluten-free chicken nuggets dipped in allerg allergen-free vegan mayonnaise, with mini pitta pockets stuffed with salad and v vegan doner keba kebab.

Th They also enjoy allerg allergen-free apple applewood smoky papr paprika toasties follow followed by an egg free red velvet and choc chocolate cake.

My friend’s son has a serious allergy to eggs, usually it’s beca because the antibodies in the immune syste system have a reaction to one of the prote proteins found in the egg white, most comm commonly ovomucoid.

So the easiest thing is to buy a vegan birthday cake or, if you love baking, you can mix olive oil and water to replace the egg and create the perfect moist cake.

Failing that, you can buy egg replacer from Alternative Stores and many others, or Aquafaba from Oggs (made from chickpea water), which I’ve mentioned before.

If you’re having a party or need a one-stop shop I highly recommend this store as it’s a family run business and they can send the whole box straight to your door – really great for the busy person’s life.

Imagine my joy at finding an online vegan mini supermarket
