I’M A BELIEVER
Mowbray’s men scoring goals for fun, and when you see his face, there’s no doubt in his mind!
BLACKBURN boss Tony Mowbray claims belief is key to Rovers’ freescoring start to the season.
Blackburn are the Championship’s top scorers, having banged in 11 goals in their first three league games.
They have kept clean sheets in their wallopings of Wycombe and Derby in their last two games and striker Adam Armstrong has six in five games.
And Mowbray says everyone is buying into their philosophy ahead of today’s home clash with Cardiff.
“The confidence levels in the team are good,” he said. “We believe in what we’re doing and that’s helping us get results.
“Cardiff are next. I talked about Derby, Cardiff and Forest being our next three games and it’s quite a tough ask against established teams who are always in, or around, the play-offs over the last few years with big expectations.
“They have an experienced squad with a manager who knows what it’s all about. We expect a tough game but one we’ll look to impact on with the way we’re playing.”
Belgian keeper Thomas Kaminski has kept clean sheets in his last three games and says the team’s style of involving him in the play keeps him sharp.
Mowbray likes his defenders to pass to Kaminski, who cost £450,000 from Gent at the end of August.
Kaminski said: “It’s been a good week for us, especially with the clean sheets, but it’s been a real team performance throughout.
“The way we want to play, to involve me in the construction of moves, it helps me to keep my concentration high and to be ready whenever there is a dangerous ball or a dangerous situation.
“I’ve been impressed with our displays, especially with the teamwork we have to win the ball back and to finish off chances.
“We have gained confidence in the last couple of games and we need to continue with this.
“We will focus game by game and bring the right mentality and spirit to each match.”
