Samples not clear enough to match

- BY LUCY THORNTON irish@mgn.co.uk

FINGERPRINTS which Malaysian police said showed Nora Quorin had climbed out of a window could not be matched to the teen, an inquest heard yesterday.

The coroner was told a comparison between the prints at the resort at which the family was staying could not be completed because of the condition of the 15-year-old’s body.

Testifying at the inquest, Puwira Jaya Othman said Malaysian police sought Interpol’s help to obtain a full set of the teen’s fingerprint samples.

They made the request after her body was found and the prints taken were inadequate. The expert said he had been instructed to study four fingerprints lifted from a window at the villa where Nora and her family had been staying.

Police claim teen, from London, left the property through the opening and wandered off.

T h e coroner has been told there was a faulty latch on the window. Nora vanished on August 13 last year.her naked body was discovered 10 days later about a mileand-a-half away.

According to the Malay Mail, the witness said that Malaysian police had asked Interpol in Paris to provide samples of her 10 fingers.

However, he claimed they only gave two – Nora’s index and middle finger.

Mr Othman added he performed a comparison based on the samples provided but was unable to get proper identification.

He said: “Perhaps if we had obtained all 10 fingerprints, there is a possibility that they may belong to Nora Anne.

“After comparing, I found that all unsolved latent fingerprints do not match those of Nora Anne.”

The case has been adjourned until November 11.
