PEREIRA TOLD: ‘YOU’RE MY BIG STAR, SO SHINE’

SLAVEN BILIC has told samba star Matheus Pereira he cannot afford to be a flash in the pan.

West Brom boss Bilic has spelled out what he needs from his £8million Brazilian buy from Sporting Lisbon.

Pereira (top) goes into Monday night’s game with Fulham desperate to live up to his gaffer’s star billing.

Bilic (above) said: “He’s one of our top players. I told him that for us to stay in the Premier League we need him to perform and not just play in flashes.”

Pereira was signed after impressing on loan when his eight goals and 20 assists helped take The Baggies to promotion from the Championsh­ip.

The 24-year-old will be told to t try and dictate the ga game against a F Fulham side Bilic has high regard for after they clawed t their way out of the Ch Championsh­ip via the play-off route.

Bilic said: “They have bought some interestin­g players, so they will need time to gel. They play good football and still have their guys from last season, so things will take a while.”

Parker admits he is “disappoint­ed” with his side’s position at the foot of the table but insists they are improving.

Parker said: “I constantly see improvemen­ts. There were a lot of good things against Crystal Palace, some real positives.

“There have been 10 or 11 new players coming into the building, and a lot of young players, but they don’t have a lot of Premier League experience.

“We are disappoint­ed we only have one point on the board, but there are also elements that I am happy with. We are moving in the right direction.”
