STU: BIELSA BOYS’ VOW TO HIT BACK

- BY DAVID ANDERSON

STUART DALLAS has vowed Leeds will learn from their worst night at Elland Road under Marcelo Bielsa.

Leeds’ 4-1 loss to Leicester was their heaviest home defeat under the Argentinian and Dallas (above, with team-mate Robin Koch) knows they were taught some painful lessons by Brendan Rodgers’ cunning Foxes.

Leeds were ruthlessly picked off on the break by Leicester and they learned that possession without penetration is pointless.

Bielsa (below, with Rodgers) is fully aware his side must defend better.

“We knew what we were coming up against and we knew we were going to have the majority of possession, but you saw their quality on the counter with the likes of Jamie Vardy and Harvey Barnes, lightning-fast players,” said Dallas, who scored Leeds’ consolation goal.

“It’s disappointing. We came into the game hoping we could get something out of it and we weren’t able to do that.

“There are a lot of things we’ll take out of the game and we need to turn our attention to Crystal Palace on Saturday now.”

The loss was also a reminder of the step up in quality from the Championship.

“I think the quality is different,” said Northern Ireland defender Dallas. “I don’t like to say that – because there’s a lot of quality in the Championship and it’s a tough, tough league.

“But in the Premier League, you’re up against world-class players and you have to be focused 100 per cent.

“You had to be focused in the Championship, but in the top flight it’s more mentally challenging.”

Leeds’ passing was unusually sloppy and Dallas says they cannot afford to give the ball away.

“I don’t know how it seems watching on TV, but when you have the ball you must show quality because if you give it away, you won’t be getting it back for a bit,” he added.

Leeds responded from losing at home to Wolves by walloping Aston Villa – and they will be hoping for a similar reaction at Selhurst Park.

But they will again be without Rodrigo, who is self-isolating, while winger Raphinha is an injury doubt.

“There’s a regulation in place for people who have been in contact with someone who has the virus,” said Bielsa on Rodrigo.

“For Raphinha, I don’t think it’s an injury that will keep him out for long.”
