FRIDAY NIGHT FEAST

Channel 4, 8pm

In ‘Saffend’, down at their end-of-the-pier caff, best mates Jamie Oliver and Jimmy Doherty are having a real laugh cooking with celebrities.

Of course this was filmed in ‘before times’, when eating with your mates in a restaurant was a thing.

And their guest list is not too shabby either – it has included everyone from Ant and Dec and Mary Berry, to Taron Egerton and Susan Sarandon.

This buzzing episode welcomes former world boxing champion Amir Khan, who they quiz about his cooking skills and earliest food memories – his mum’s curries – to his greatest achievement and most cringe-worthy entrance song.

But they plan to spoil him, tracking down the favourite dish of Amir’s boxing hero, Muhammad Ali, and recreating it.

It’s a heavyweight dish of rack of lamb, scalloped potatoes and collard greens that Ali apparently ate every single week.

Elsewhere, Jamie pushes the boat out with his Malaysian-inspired sea bass cooked in a fresh banana leaf and served with jasmine rice, rainbow salad and a chilli pickle.

Jimmy serves up some quick quesadillas that will impress your friends even at short notice – you know, when we’re allowed to see friends again.

“Staying in is the new going out,” he says, unaware of just how wise these words would become.

And finally, Jamie and Jimmy ditch their day jobs and sign up for a day’s work at a cheese farm in Somerset, turning the waste product from the cheddar-making process into a delicious creamy ricotta. Grate fun.
