‘STEP UP AND STOP RELYING ON HARRY!’

- BY JOHN CROSS

DAVINSON SANCHEZ has warned Tottenham cannot just rely on Harry Kane, if they want to be successful this season.

Spurs talisman Kane was rushed back ahead of a make-or-break week for the club in the FA Cup, Premier League and Europa League.

Kane scored (above) as Tottenham beat West Brom to end a run of three straight Premier League defeats. They next go to Everton in the Cup, Manchester City in a crunch showdown this weekend, and then Austrian side Wolfsberg next week in Europe.

And defender Sanchez admits Kane is a huge influence on the dressing room – but says other experienced internationals must step up if Spurs are to end their 13-year wait for silverware, having already reached the Carabao Cup final.

Colombia international Sanchez (with Kane, below) said: “He brings a lot to the team as a striker and as a leader. All of us can learn and he is an example to all of us about how we can improve.

“He’s very important, but it’s not just him. Other players play for their national team and that means a lot, it means all of us are internationals and, in one way or another, it can really help.

“Of course, it’s an exciting challenge for us. It’s my fourth year here and I have spent a lot of the time in a good position, a high position in the League, but now we have a chance to reach another final.

“We have big games in the Premier League and every competition is now a big challenge for us. We want to beat Everton to try to keep going in the FA Cup and then in the Europa League, which is another important competition for us.

“Then, of course, we are also in the Carabao Cup final and are going to try to go far in the Europa League – just keep going well this season.

“It’s important we go step-by-step and I think we can have a good season. We’ve got a lot of things to do, but there can be no more excuses for us not to keep pushing.

“We have a lot of chances for success and a lot of internationals to keep helping us this season.”
