BREN: WE’RE PART OF SIX-PACK

- BY DAVE ARMITAGE

BRENDAN RODGERS insists Leicester have earned the right to be regarded as a topsix club.

But the Foxes chief remains opposed to UEFA proposals to provide wildcard Champions League places based on past performance.

Traditional elite club Arsenal visit the King Power tomorrow eight places and 15 points behind third-placed Leicester.

Rodgers (right) believes past reputation should not come into who lands European places and said it has to be done on merit. He said: “It depends how you define the top six. If it’s financial then we don’t sit in, but if you’re talking football then we’ve been there on merit for the past couple of seasons. From a football perspective, we’ve shown a consistency to challenge that hierarchy.”

NUNO ESPIRITO SANTO believes in-form Wolves are finally bearing their teeth again without Raul Jimenez.

And the Molineux boss is confident the Mexican (right) will play again soon despite his broken skull.

Jimenez, who has scored 48 goals for the club since 2019, has not played since a horrific injury in the victory over Arsenal in November .

But he recently returned to training and is stepping up his fitness work ahead of a planned return to action.

Nuno said: “He has been able to participate in part of the training sessions. We have to be aware of the circumstances and avoid any kind of contact.

“But just him being with his team-mates is a big help for him and for us.

“We are following the right protocols with no rush but we are delighted Raul is getting better day by day. It is fantastic for us.”

Wolves have taken 10 points from a possible 12 in February, and Nuno said: “It is up to us to find solutions.

“But we have found the right way to improve our players, so the absence of Raul is not so important.”
