MIKE Baldwin’s 30 years on the Cobbles brought countless memorable scenes, these are what he is best known for...

LADIES MAN

Mike had a staggering 25 girlfriends and four wives. He married Susan Barlow in 1986 and had a brief marriage of convenience to Jackie Ingram in 1991, who was a wealthy widow who had inherited a factory. Alma Halliwell tied the knot with Mike in 1992, and they stayed together until she discovered he had cheated on her in 1999.

In 2000 he married for a final time to Linda Sykes.

KEN VS MIKE

The feud between Ken and Mike began in 1983 when Ken discovered his wife Deirdre had been having an affair with the factory boss. The scenes transfixed the nation but things got worse when Mike went on to marry Ken’s daughter, Susan.

FACTORY BOSS

Having opened Baldwin’s Casuals on Coronation Street, he had a fierce reputation and threatened his machinists with the sack if they slacked on the job.

THE END

Mike was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease. In the hard-hitting storyline, his character was seen slowly beginning to lose his memory. In his final episodes, Mike was rushed to hospital with pneumonia before eventually fleeing in his nightgown. He was eventually found back on the street by his long-time rival Ken Barlow, and after suffering a heart attack, died in Ken’s arms in April 2006.
