Ole: Refs too scared to give us penalties

-

after noises were made a month or two ago about us getting spot-kicks. “So clearly there is a point of managers influencing the referees which they shouldn’t do.”

Solskjaer also accused Chelsea of being “cheeky” for putting a piece on their website about United’s record in getting penalties.

“It’s not right, is it? It’s all these outside influences. Even the VAR talk before the game here (on the

Chelsea website) about Harry Maguire,” added Solskjaer.

“That’s cheeky when they put that on the website. That’s influencing referees. You can go back and look at the website and read what they’re saying about Harry.

“But it should have been a penalty and, once it’s a penalty, I would always back Bruno Fernandes to score from the spot.”

Reds full-back Luke Shaw claimed Attwell told Maguire (above) that giving a penalty would cause a storm. Shaw said: “The ref even said to H (Maguire), if it’s a pen then it’s going to cause a lot of talk after. So I don’t know what happened there.” United later claimed Shaw may have misheard Maguire after the fall-out from the VAR controversy amid fears his remarks might land the club in trouble with the FA. Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel said of the ‘handball’: “I did not see the incident live, so I checked on my ipad and could not see any incident.”

And the German had harsh words for Tammy Abraham, who did not even make the bench. He added: “It’s not easy for Tammy. He just has to train hard, work hard and I’m sure that’s what he’ll do.”
