URCHINS ON RIGHT TRACK FOR WEMBLEY

- BY JON WEST

HORNCHURCH reckon there ain’t no stoppin’ them now they are one game from Wembley.

The Isthmian Premier underdogs are in today’s FA Trophy semi-final draw after winning 2-1 at DARLINGTON.

The unfancied Urchins belted out their version of the Mcfadden & Whitehead track ‘Ain’t No Stoppin’ Us Now’ in the dressing room after Liam Nash and Sam Higgins found the net.

Hornchurch boss Mark Stimson said: “They gave everything – they blocked, they ran, they jumped, they challenged.

“I have worked with six or seven of these players for eight or nine years, so they are like adopted sons.

HEREFORD, from National League North, are also eyeing the final after seeing off ALDERSHOT on penalties. Josh Gowling’s (above) Bulls – who were only formed in 2014 – took an early lead through Michael Bakare but the Shots made it 1-1 with the last kick of normal time.

Defender Luke Haines slotted home the winning spot-kick after goalkeeper Brandon Hall made a save.

TORQUAY’S double dream is over after the National League leaders went down 1-0 at WOKING.

Jamar Loza scored the only goal in a game that saw Asa Hall fluff a penalty for the Gulls, who also saw Connor Lemonheigh-evans’ header ruled out for offside.

NOTTS COUNTY are the new favourites to lift the trophy after Elisha Sam’s back-heel flick capped a 3-1 win over OXFORD CITY.

The goal-of-the-season contender has already been viewed by millions across the globe on social media.

Sam said: “I thought, ‘I’m just gonna do this’. I saw it go over the goalkeeper – in my head I went crazy.”
