ROY: DON’T WANDER OFF

- BY PAUL BROWN

ROY HODGSON has urged Aaron Wan-bissaka not to turn his back on England like Wilfried Zaha did.

The Crystal Palace boss, who has managed both players, reckons Wan-bissaka (right) would be foolish to opt to represent DR Congo.

The former England boss, whose side face

Wan-bissaka’s Manchester

United tonight, said: “It was disappointing to see England miss out on Wilf Zaha. I’m hoping Aaron will be patient and not dive straight in to play for an African nation.

“There’s a background with

Democratic Republic of Congo but it’s not a country he’s actually lived in. England is where he’s lived, grown up, and played all his football so it would be nice if he can dedicate his skills to England.”

Zaha, set to miss out on a reunion with his old club due to injury, snubbed England to play for the Ivory Coast. And Wan-bissaka is weighing up whether to pledge his international future to Congo after being overlooked for recent England squads. But Hodgson said: “I believe he has a big international future in front of him and I would hope England would benefit from it.”
