Man injured partner in heated row, judge told
9,000 jobs in 20yrs
A MAN who injured his partner during a “heated argument” was placed under a suspended sentence after appearing in court yesterday.
Stephen Robert Mckinley was handed a six-month term, which was suspended for two years, after he admitted assaulting the mother of his three children in November 2019.
The 29-year-old was also issued with a two-year restraining order by Judge Donna Mccolgan QC.
Mckinley, from Seaview Street in North Belfast, was initially charged with assaulting the woman occasioning her actual bodily harm, false imprisonment and criminal damage.
He was due to stand trial, but after his barrister Sean O’hare asked that he be re-arraigned, Mckinley pleaded not guilty to AOABH but guilty to common assault.
Prosecuting barrister Garth Purvis said the plea to common assault was accepted by the Crown and the charges of false imprisonment and criminal charges were to be “left on the books”.
The victim sustained a laceration above her left eyebrow.
Belfast Crown Court heard they are no longer a couple and Mr O’hare said the relationship is now “clearly beyond salvage”. far more housing in the future. We can deliver more social and affordable housing if this link road is in place because there will be other lands that will be zoned. It’s the biggest development for years.”
However, Alliance councillor Martin Gregg said if members voted in favour of the 65% breakdown for housing compared to the other 35% for employment, then they would be “selling the crown jewels”.
He added: “I do see the merit in this but I do not see the merit in sacrificing so much economic land in the Lisburn and Castlereagh City Council area.”
Alderman Amanda Grehan of Alliance said the proposed 10% of affordable houses was “well short” of what was required. The development also drew two public objections. Opponents claimed the proposals would affect existing wildlife, increase traffic and have a potential negative impact on the
character of the area.
