RICHARD Madeley has revealed he woke up babbling and talking nonsense in the early hours when he fell ill in the I’m A Celeb castle.

The daytime TV host, 65, who was taken to hospital for a check-up, now suspects he was suffering from dehydration.

The visit on Thursday meant he had broken the Covid bubble so he had to leave the series.

Yesterday he said he may go on a future series, if asked and if it was back in Australia. Madeley said: “I think what happened to me was I got dehydrated.

“If anyone’s ever suffered from it, it is actually quite disturbing.”

He believes he had been up for about 20 hours and went to bed at about 4.30am feeling thirsty.

He said: “I’m quite bad at remembering to drink.

“I thought, ‘Ah, I haven’t had a big drink in a while, I’ll do it when I wake up’.

“The next thing I knew I was sitting there babbling, I was talking nonsense... I woke up I didn’t know where I was, what was going on and I could hardly string a sentence together.”

“I went to the hospital, had all the tests you can imagine, got a 100% clean bill of health.”

He was asked on ITV’S Good Morning Britain if he would go back on a future series, he said: “It would depend on them asking me and God, I’ve only just come out... never say never, I mean I’d certainly consider it.”

But he said he would pick the jungle. He said: “I’d not do the castle. I’d go where it’s warm.”

He was “gutted” to have left but respected the broadcaster had to follow filming protocols.
