PITCH INVASIONS THEY’RE

-

WHAT THE MANAGERS SAY

DEAN SMITH (Norwich)

“It’s just wrong. We missed fans during the Covid period but come on, give your heads a wobble – you can’t be attacking people and managers.

“You can’t abuse anybody verbally or physically on the street but for some reason you are allowed to do that at football games. We need to make sure that is not happening.”

PEP GUARDIOLA (Man City) “What happened at Goodison Park and Port Vale and other games, the Championship semi-final, there are a lot of emotions and happiness. It’s a dangerous situation and we have to try to behave as good as possible and have the celebration at the right moment.

“It’s dangerous and I understand Patrick Vieira because you never know how people will react.”

ANTONIO CONTE (Spurs) “In other leagues they try to put the fans a long distance away to avoid this type of situation.

“It is beautiful to play with the people so close to you, your fans or opposition fans. For this reason I think this situation we can learn to improve to be better in the future for everybody.”

JURGEN KLOPP (Liverpool) “In the 83rd minute, some fathers and sons were on,

they lose their minds for their sons too. I didn’t get that, It could have

been dangerous.”

MIKEL ARTETA (Arsenal) “We have to stop it and we have to minimise the risk and exposure of players and staff in this situation because you cannot control it. When you cannot control a situation and there are so many people involved, in any event, then it becomes dangerous and we have to do something about it.”

DAVID MOYES (West Ham) “What we never want to do is go back to the days when we were all caged in. We all know what we’re talking about, the disasters that have come from having fences.

“At the moment we’ve got an element among the supporters who are putting people at risk by coming on. “A lot of parents are sending their kids on just to try and get a jersey. We’re talking about responsibility among fans. That’s terribly irresponsible. It’s a place where no supporter is supposed to go.”

GRAHAM POTTER

(Brighton)

“If you go back through time in football you will look back at iconic moments with people on the pitch. OK, but there’s an argument that behaviour has got worse, especially post lockdown. So we have to have a real serious think about how we manage ourselves in the next games. It’s a big question for football.”
