Case set to travel in Stakes
BACK on home soil, dual Group 1-winner A Case Of You sets a high standard in the Group 2 Weatherbys Ireland Greenlands Stakes.
The Ado Mcguinnesstrained four-year-old, third to Gustavus Weston in this event last year before going close against Romantic Proposal in the Flying Five, hit the Group 1 jackpot in the Prix de l’abbaye at Longchamp in October.
And following a prep run in early March, the Hot Streak colt struck again in the Group 1 Al Quoz Sprint in Meydan.
Today, he might successfully concede weight to his eight rivals, including another Group 1 scorer Glen Shiel and the horse that beat him on his seasonal bow in Haydock two weeks ago, Brad The Brief, and a strong home team which features last year’s winner Gustavus Weston and Cork listed winner Power Under Me.
The supporting card also features the Group 3 GAIN Marble Hill 2-Y-0 Stakes, in which Aidan O’brien’s Blackbeard, a listed winner here last time, when pipping Crispy Cat, is bidding for a hat-trick.
But preference is for the Glenburnie colt Tough Talk, narrow winner of a course and distance maiden on his debut, form boosted by the subsequent wins of runner-up Little Big Bear, very impressive in Naas, and third Shartash.
The Moyglare-owned Kingman colt should have improved from that debut and will be a tough nut to crack.
In the handicap action, Joseph O’brien’s Isle Of Sark, with Jake Coen claiming a valuable 7lb, should reward each-way support in the William Hill Handicap.
And the Johnny Murtagh-trained filly Esculenta, placed in four of her five starts, most recently when second to Toy in a strong Cork maiden last month, is a hopeful nap choice to open her account in the FBD Hotels And Resorts Handicap.
