FORMER Coronation Street star Katherine Kelly transforms into Yorkshire Ripper victim Emily Jackson for the first scenes released from new ITV drama The Long Shadow.

Katherine, 42, wore a wig, checked coat and PVC boots to play sex worker Emily in Leeds. Sutcliffe murdered 13 women between 1975 and 1980, and killed Emily, his second victim, after picking her up outside a pub in 1976.

The series, described as “definitive” by ITV drama boss Polly Hill, focuses on the long police hunt and the lives of Sutcliffe’s victims. Line of Duty’s Daniel Mays, inset, plays Emily’s husband Sydney.
