A QUARTER of primary school kids think chicken is one of their “five a day” and a fifth believe cheese also counts, says research.

And the number of teenagers who still think poultry is on the must-eat veggie list is 17%.

More say chicken is a better source of fibre than carrots, a British Nutrition Foundation survey reveals.

Sara Stanner, from the charity, said: “It’s concerning. Lack of knowledge means people are less equipped to make choices.”
