Vile snaps of upskirting in Facebook axe

- BY MARTYN LANDI

FACEBOOK owner Meta said it has removed a large number of accounts which were posting upskirting images of girls and women.

A BBC report found thousands of users shared obscene material of victims taken in public without their consent.

It said some content reported to Facebook was not immediately removed.

Upskirting was made a crime in England and Wales in 2019.

Meta said it knows “our work is never finished”, adding: “Sharing intimate images without consent is not allowed on Facebook.”

Social media sites have been criticised over their handling of such content.

The Online Safety Bill could bring in large fines or block access to sites if they fail to protect users.
